Foraged in The Hebrides, Made by Bees.
At Hebribees Honey, we believe in honey is a story of place, pollinators, and the wild beauty of the Outer Hebrides.
Our honey is harvested with care and respect for the bees who make it possible — healthy bees, happy hives, and landscapes rich with windswept wild flowers and heather.

Meet the Bees.
Our apiary at Croft 5 is home to hardy Buckfast colonies, a resilient and productive strain well-suited to island conditions and the Scottish climate. We see bees not just as honey-producers but as vital livestock — pollinators that play an essential role in the health of our croft ecosystem.
Here, bees are part of the croft — cared for between storms and sunshine, through flowering seasons and long island winters.
Every jar of Hebribees Honey reflects the journeys of these remarkable insects!

What Makes Our Honey Special?
Every jar of Hebribees Honey reflects the landscape around Croft 5 — its flowers, seas breezes, and seasonal shifts. Our honey is:
- Raw, pure & natural: Harvested straight from the hive with minimal handling — the honey you taste is local nectar in its truest form.
- Flavoured by the seasons: The unique flora of the area, combined with the unique island weather, produces a unique flavoured honey.
- 100% Natural — no additives, no heat treatments, no diluting with sugar syrup.
- Rich in local floral notes drawn from the windswept wildflowers and heather moorland that surround us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Hebribees Honey come from?
Hebribees Honey is produced by our own bees at Croft 5, using hives located on the croft and foraging the surrounding landscape.
The flavour reflects what’s flowering locally each season.
If you’d like to know more about our bees and how we keep them, see the blog post “Bee Farming: Livestock for the Modern Croft”.
What type of bees do you keep?
We keep a Scottish breed of Buckfast bees, chosen for their temperament and suitability for Hebridean conditions.
You can read more about why we chose them in “Buckfast Bees in the Hebrides” on the blog.
Is Hebribees Honey pure honey?
Yes. Our honey is pure, raw honey harvested from our own hives, handled gently, and never blended with other honeys or syrups.
We keep processing to a minimum to preserve the raw, natural flavour and texture.
Why does the honey change from batch to batch?
Honey is a seasonal product. Weather, forage, and the bees’ foraging choices all influence colour, flavour, and texture. That’s part of what makes each unique batch extra special.
When will the next batch of honey be available?
Availability depends on the season and the bees. The best way to stay up to date is to:
- Follow us on Facebook for quick updates
- Read the latest Beekeeping Updates on the Croft5 blog
We’ll always share news there first when a new batch is nearly ready.
Do you offer apiary visits or beekeeping updates?
We occasionally share opportunities for visits, open days, or behind-the-scenes looks at the apiary. These are announced via our Facebook page and the blog, so keep an eye there for the latest news.
